Although Wacquant would have us believe that his theoretical arguments based condenzdos his two decades old research still holds, one wonders, reading this book inwhether the banlieue and the ‘hyperghetto’ of today is the same creature that Wacquant saw 20 years ago my friends who have worked in such neighbourhoods suggest this is not the case and how far Wacquant’s theories go towards explaining the evolution of these two entities to where they are today.
