The fact, however, is that while Anan freely used Rabbanite exegetical and juridical methods, he came to entirely divergent conclusions, m direct con- trast to Benjamin al-Nahawandl, who employed distinctly Karaite methods of legal exegesis but came to many conclusions identical with or closely parallel to Rabbanite legal norms.
