Well, when the dragon dies then a huge chunk of land inbetween two uneasy nations ffordr up for grabs and whoever can grab it first gets it. Also, just, how much do I love a plucky foundling running a madcap magical agency filled with misfits, living in a crumbling and enchanted hotel? The crossword was jasler complete and more or less correct–but it left an article on Queen Mimosa’s patronage of the Troll War Widows Fund looking a little disjointed.
This question contains spoilers… view spoiler [how does there end up to be only one dragon if fro everyone dies two is created? But not promising enough, or consistent enough, for me to grin broadly and bump this up a star. I greedily pounce on anything he writes, except, well, if we’re all be honest here, the Shades of Grey one. The Cyber Effect Mary Aiken. OK, I bounced off my new book, came back to this one, and ended up liking it pretty well. Everything is like the present day except for the magic.
Very typical of Fforde, who is seriously, the funniest guy. P One of Jennifer’s loyal sidekicks, a Quarkbeast is described as: Seriously, there are so. The writing is a bit out there and there’s tue lot of info and names i have no luck of remembering.
Not only did they predict the death of the Last Dragon by a Dragonslayer, they also suggest that I might have something to do with it. I was so glad to have a bit of Jasper Ffore to read. Read by Jane Collingwood: In Thursday Next, it’s illegal cheese; here, marzipan is a dangerous drug that might as well be angel dust. I liked it, it was good fun, but it didn’t feel smooth. It’s more about the adventure and the world and the fun, vragonslayer than the conflict. The plot is well-paced and the repercussions of Jennifer assuming her new role all make sense.
This was a cute little read!

Share this Rating Title: The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde. Not So Lovely Things: In this world, magic is slowly dying, but there wasn’t an atmosphere of disaster or danger. For me, silly and fun until it started to wear thin. If the Quarkbeast enters the scene, make a hasty exit and read it where out loud laughter is ok. Jennifer Strange, foundling, temporary caretaker of Kazam Mystical Arts Management, and non-magical being, is two weeks shy of her sixteenth birthday when she learns she is, in fact, the Last Dragonslayer it must needs capitals to differentiate from merely the previous, or last, dragonslayer.
I fell in love with this novel almost instantly because of how darn funny it was! More fun information on all things Strange in Jasper Fforde’s website. Even the Quark beast with its many teeth and loyalty to Jenny is compelling. Want to Read Currently Reading Read.
Luckily for Jasper, the novel garnered dozens of effusive reviews, and received high praise from the press, from booksellers and readers throughout the UK. Recommended to Beverly by: Also Tiger did nothing at the end which was weird.

Then the magic started fading away. Llast, lovely novel, supposed to be for the young adult crowd, but I am an old curmudgeon and liked it, is pretty cool.

Unlike some jsaper his books for adults, Fforde has proved that he can write clean for the younger crowd in this book. The characters were not really complex either.
