The effort is made here to enter upon these explanations which the fifteen years’ experience of the author in teaching New Testament Greek has shown to be essential Gresham Machen to your wish list. When I first encountered it half a century ago as a textbook for tutoring a student in Koine, it seemed pretty clear early on that it was conceived with a notion that Greek is an odd-sounding way to speak and write English; constructions were poorly explained; exercises seemed designed to promote equivalent expressions in KJV Bbeginners and Koine Greek — as if the only English into which Koine Greek could be converted was the English of the early 17th century.
This book is intended primarily for learners who are beginning the study of the Greek Tdstament either without any previous acquaintance with the Greek language or with an acquaintance so imperfect that a renewed course of elementary instruction is needed.
