I tried to listen to the audio while emulie along, but I stopped after five poems as Emilie’s voice got annoying and it was incredibly unclear what she was trying to say I’ll have to admit that I skipped some of these poems.

My original review was pretty stupid, so here’s a shorter and vastly improved one. The whole performance of the poetry in this is also forced and dry.

I am no good with poetry and I’m not a fan of hers. I listened to Emilie’s voice this time and I still like her teatime poetry. I feel just as stupid as these people for buying this uatumn and lifeless poetry record. Her obsession with wanting to be British is also cringe worthy. I uhtouched recommend her instrumental recordings but not her books sadly.

That’s English, possibly because it doesn’t sound as intellectual as Miss Autumn is trying to sound over compensation does not make a untuched performance, but then again this is someone who thinks Oxford Uni is in London and that Cockney is a nationality. It was bad poetry, not quite as bad as ex-boyfriend corgans I don’t know who else to compare it too but it wasn’t good either.

But if you do find it in physical form, get it, cause that’d sure be valuable! I honestly zugar say I really liked the book as a whole, but I did love some of the poems within.

I tried to listen to the audio while reading along, but I stopped after five poems as Emilie’s voice got annoying and it was incredibly unclear what she was trying to say yes, even though I had the text right before me Though I can’t really say I had expected much of these poems in the first place. Contrary to what Dmilie classes will have you believe, most artists don’t intend their work to be hyper-analyzed, anyway.

A lot of these poems were written in the Enchant -era of Emilie’s career where she was heavily inspired by Shakespeare, Elizabethans and medieval faerietales.

Autumn is strongest when she writes more modern poetry. It was interesting reading her poems about love and its affects in her life. Upon the release of her Shakespearean-themed concept album, Opheliac, Emilie found herself an overnight star in Germany’s industrial rock scene, and began touring extensively. At least if the poems were left as the paperback book of across the sky and we’re themselves untouched in future, that way I could ignore the ugly accent she tends to put on to make her sound more intellectual and the lack of feeling she seems to have for ykur own words.

Funny because I’m pretty sure she was in her twenties and said so at some point I just never got around to buying until now. Thanks for telling us about the problem.

None of them I thought were bad or unenjoyable. View all 5 comments. A untoyched fan who incidentally also gave this book a two out of five star rating told me that they thought I might like some of these. Nov 12, Erin rated it really liked it Shelves: Reading emilke those poems were like reading lyrics to Emilie Autumn songs. Sadly her newly accompanying background music doesn’t help to improve the way the poetry reads.

Although she has done very well acting in the devils carnival movies so applause to her for finding another strength. I confess that I am not really a fan of poetry and would not have picked this up were I not an avid Emilie Autumn fan.

Plus I was a little curious about her poetry since I have already read The Asylum book and wanted to see what I’d find in this work.

They were weak and boring a lot of times–But she was a teenager when she put these words on paper so Lists with This Book. The paperback printed version of this was released inas across the sky and other poems, however, did not contain many of the new poems added to this edition which was released in The ones about regret were the strongest in my opinion.

A common complaint, I’ve noticed, is the Fakespearean language she uses on a few.

Have you read Rimbaud and seen how old he was when he wrote his masterworks? I didn’t like it because I felt it was repetitive and cheesy and pretty sounds didn’t really change my opinion. Aug 22, JackingOffJill rated it did not like it. The subjects were the same a lot of the time, which got boring very fast. In some of the poems, Autumn is simply trying too hard.

Although many never heard of if until it’s digital re-release in because Autumn didn’t really become acknowledged until”Opheliac. I bought this on iTunes and I have been cringing since. Refresh and try again. I only liked “Ghost” but Enchant her debut in is still definitely her best work. I just like to discover works by people I know nothing of.

It would have been more fluent if auyumn lost this habit she has of trying to sound autujn when she’s Malibu. I don’t like Autumn’s dishonest “Written between the ages 13 and 18” she was in her twenties. The poems were from a paperback book published in calle I was brought this as a mother’s day present and FLAG on iTunes as well as a physical copy of her book from her website.

Most of them were also very simple or just plain bad and it was annoying how Emilie constantly used ”thy” and ”thou”.
