The reprint is part of that publisher’s series. Following the French Revolution and rise of the Enlightenment, McIntosh examines how the cultural consciousness of France was torn between mystery and mimesis. To anyone who is seeking a highly readable survey of this anf era in occultism can do rfench better than to look here.

The magicians of the Golden Dawn were strongly ths by him, and Aleister Crowley even believed himself to be Levi’s reincarnation.
