Im hoping the third book goes back to the formula that worked in the first book of the series. Lauren Hale, a new hospital resident, is nearly killed by a raving mad emergency room patient, in a senseless, unprovoked attack. I think I liked the first book better.

Nothing else really to say. This book is an excellent example of one of the reasons why an editor can be vital to the health of a story.
Domestic Enemies begins five years after Enemies Foreign And Domestic, in other words, in America’s not very distant future. Well-armed American “Minuteman” volunteers are also heading to the beleaguered state to support the threatened ranchers, and to keep New Mexico within the United States. I agree with some of the politics, and obviously the way it’s framed in the book makes things sound scary or absurd, though at the same time, some of the things have actually come to pass. Violent protest, widespread destruction, and politicians who insist on letting the disassociated vent their rage will bring America to her knees, threatening to decapitate the laws, principles, and values on which the country was founded.
