Change of Heart is her fifth novel and is set in the same town as Paper Hearts. I didn’t want his heart broken any more than his momma did. Campbell Carter has come to Sweethaven in search of answers about her mother’s history. Even though she called the three girls their best friends they didn’t even know the secret she’d carried with her on the road out of town. The characters and the circumstances are believable, likeable and not boring. I enjoyed this story a lot.

The author did a great job of not interjecting scripture in awkward places in the book just to fulfill some unwritten quota to qualify a novel as “Christian fiction”.

Plus the story meanders all over the place. Hearts are alive with love and some are broken. The sumer was so well-developed as were the four sumemr different personalities of the friends and also Campbell’s personality and struggles.

With believable characters, I cared about, in an idyllic setting: But does she discover what she came to find? No trivia or quizzes yet. She wouldn’t until she came across the scrapbook her mother and her friends made and that is where the story begins.

The last third really improved and I read it straight through to the end. But that was a good thing because it means the story tugged at my heart and really came off the page.
